Glass & Glazing Contractor Recruiting

Recruiters for Glass & Glazing Contractors

Management Recruiters of Davidson brings a boutique, highly specialized approach to executive search for commercial glass and glazing contractors. We recruit the experienced professionals who help Division 8 companies estimate accurately, win the right work, execute complex projects, and protect profitability from preconstruction through closeout.

Our team understands the specialized demands of commercial glazing—from curtainwall, storefront systems, entrances, interior glass, and architectural panels to the coordination required among general contractors, architects, fabricators, suppliers, installers, and other trade partners.

The Leaders Behind Profitable Glazing Projects

Project Managers

Drive complex projects from award through closeout, keeping teams aligned, schedules moving, issues controlled, and profitability protected.

Estimators

Build accurate, competitive bids that help contractors pursue the right opportunities, win profitable work, and protect margin before a project ever reaches the field.

Precon Managers

Turn early planning into stronger execution by connecting bid strategy, technical coordination, procurement, and project delivery.

Sales (to GCs)

Build the general contractor relationships that create opportunity, strengthen the pipeline, and keep your company in the room for the right projects.

CAD Designers & Drafters

Transform architectural intent into accurate, buildable drawings that keep fabrication, coordination, and installation moving forward.

Superintendents

Lead day-to-day jobsite execution with command of crews, schedules, logistics, quality, safety, and the critical field decisions that keep projects moving forward and on track.

Foremen

Set the standard in the field—leading crews, driving production, maintaining quality, and getting installation done right the first time.

Operations Managers

Bring accountability and operational control across people, projects, and processes to improve performance at scale.

Beyond these key roles, we place senior executives who lead estimating, preconstruction, project delivery, operations, and growth. Glazier and field-installer searches are handled on a selective, case-by-case basis.

HIRING CHALLENGES

CRITICAL HIRING GAPS | REAL BUSINESS IMPACT

These are the recurring workforce challenges commercial glazing contractors bring to Management Recruiters of Davidson.

1

LEADERSHIP GAPS STALL GROWTH

Without experienced Project Managers in place, contractors may be forced to pass on qualified opportunities, delay expansion, or take on work without the leadership capacity required to execute it profitably.

2

BID ERRORS BECOME MARGIN EROSION

A weak estimate can create problems long before a project reaches the field. Missed scope, inaccurate takeoffs, overlooked labor, and unreliable pricing can turn a promising award into a costly job.

3

POOR PROJECT CONTROLS CREATE EXPENSIVE REWORK

Material miscalculations, incorrect orders, missed lead times, and weak coordination can quickly disrupt the schedule, create avoidable waste, and put client relationships and project margins at risk.

4

INCONSISTENT OPERATIONS UNDERMINE PERFORMANCE

When operational leadership lacks visibility, accountability, or the ability to manage people and priorities across multiple jobs, quality, production, customer service, and profitability all suffer.

What We Screen For

WHAT MAKES A STRONG GLASS & GLAZING INDUSTRY CANDIDATE

Certifications matter less in this trade than proven, relevant track record.

  • Directly relevant project experience — hands-on background on similar types of glazing projects.
  • A presentable project portfolio — descriptions and photos of past work carry real weight.
  • Longevity with the same company — we screen out job-hopping.
  • Demonstrated advancement of responsibility — growth in the size and complexity of projects managed.
  • For sales roles — established relationships with GCs, plus regional or product/commodity-specific selling experience.
  • Education & certifications — PMP (Project Management Professional) is a plus but rarely required; an AS degree helps for CAD roles; a BS degree is generally a plus for senior positions, and a BS in Engineering is a strong differentiator for PMs, Estimators, and senior hires.
Speak the Trade

WE SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF DIVISION 8

General Contractors (GCs) manage the entire project, broken into Divisions. Glazing Contractors are one of several subcontractors — usually hired by the GC — with most of their work falling under Division 8.

Core Products

Curtainwall (unitized & stick), storefront, panels, doors & frames, windows, skylights, canopies, and more.

Specialization

Glazing contractors often focus on exteriors or interiors, and many build a niche around specific product installations.

Fabrication

Some glazing contractors fabricate their own systems before installation. Unitized curtainwall is assembled — or partially assembled, sometimes overseas — away from the jobsite, then brought in as modules.

Facade Materials

Curtainwall and storefront exteriors are aluminum-framed glass systems that can also incorporate ACM (aluminum composite material), metal, terracotta, rain screen, or concrete panels.
