Glazing Contractor Recruiting

Recruiters for Glazing Contractors — Project Managers, Estimators & Field Leadership

MR Davidson has spent years placing the Project Managers, Estimators, Preconstruction Managers, and senior operators that commercial glazing contractors depend on to win and run profitable work. We know Division 8 inside and out — curtainwall, storefront, panels, and every subcontractor relationship that comes with it.

Hiring Challenges

Problems We Solve for Glazing Contractors

These are the recurring pain points employers describe when they call MR Davidson.

1

Can’t Take on New Work

Without experienced Project Managers, contractors can’t confidently bring in new business.

2

Costly Estimating Mistakes

Inexperienced or unreliable Estimators make errors in bids that turn into losses once projects are installed.

3

Material and Schedule Errors

Project Managers who miscalculate or order the wrong materials cause delays and waste money.

4

Weak Oversight

Operations Managers who don’t effectively oversee personnel and projects put performance at risk.

What We Screen For

What Makes a Strong Glazing Industry Candidate

Certifications matter less in this trade than proven, relevant track record.

  • Directly relevant project experience — hands-on background on similar types of glazing projects.
  • A presentable project portfolio — descriptions and photos of past work carry real weight.
  • Longevity with the same company — we screen out job-hopping.
  • Demonstrated advancement of responsibility — growth in the size and complexity of projects managed.
  • For sales roles — established relationships with GCs, plus regional or product/commodity-specific selling experience.
  • Education & certifications — PMP (Project Management Professional) is a plus but rarely required; an AS degree helps for CAD roles; a BS degree is generally a plus for senior positions, and a BS in Engineering is a strong differentiator for PMs, Estimators, and senior hires.
Speak the Trade

We Talk the Language of Division 8

General Contractors (GCs) manage the entire project, broken into Divisions. Glazing Contractors are one of several subcontractors — usually hired by the GC — with most of their work falling under Division 8.

Core Products

Curtainwall (unitized & stick), storefront, panels, doors & frames, windows, skylights, canopies, and more.

Specialization

Glazing contractors often focus on exteriors or interiors, and many build a niche around specific product installations.

Fabrication

Some glazing contractors fabricate their own systems before installation. Unitized curtainwall is assembled — or partially assembled, sometimes overseas — away from the jobsite, then brought in as modules.

Facade Materials

Curtainwall and storefront exteriors are aluminum-framed glass systems that can also incorporate ACM (aluminum composite material), metal, terracotta, rain screen, or concrete panels.
